Vietnam’s First Pho Museum Opens in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026
Vietnam’s First Pho Museum to Open in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026
Vietnam’s first-ever museum dedicated entirely to pho is set to open in mid-January 2026 in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, at the corner of Nguyen Thai Hoc and Pham Ngu Lao streets. The museum aims to tell the story of Vietnam’s most iconic dish and introduce the cultural depth of pho to both local visitors and international travelers.
A Journey Through the History of Pho Across Three Regions
The visitor experience begins on the third floor, where guests watch a 10-minute short cinematic film. The film traces the origins and evolution of pho across Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnam, while also showcasing Vietnam’s landscapes, culture, and everyday life over the past century.
Following the film is a carefully curated exhibition featuring 209 restored and collected artifacts, including:
-
Ceramic bowls and dishes from renowned pottery villages such as Bat Trang, Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, and Hoi An
-
Traditional cooking pots and pho-making tools
-
Artistic photographs and illustrations related to pho culture
One of the highlights is a traditional street pho stall once used by artisan Van Cu, evoking the familiar image of mobile pho vendors from the early 20th century.

Interactive Experiences That Bring Pho to Life
The third floor also offers interactive games and learning activities that help visitors understand pho’s ingredients, preparation methods, and cultural significance—explaining why pho is recognized as an intangible cultural heritage.
To keep the experience fresh, this space will be updated every two to three months. The first themed exhibition focuses on wet rice cultivation, illustrating the journey from rice grains to a finished bowl of pho.
Live Pho-Making Demonstrations on the Second Floor
On the second floor, visitors can watch skilled artisans prepare pho noodles by hand, from steaming rice sheets and slicing noodles to arranging fresh ingredients.
Large projection screens display famous Vietnamese landscapes, creating the feeling of enjoying pho in places such as Ha Long Bay or the tea hills of Northwest Vietnam—a unique combination of culinary craftsmanship and immersive visuals.

Souvenirs and a Signature Bowl of Pho
The ground floor features a gift shop offering pho-themed souvenirs and regional specialties. The journey concludes with the most anticipated moment: enjoying a signature bowl of pho created exclusively for the museum.
