Red River Festival 2025 to Be Held in November in Lao Cai, Vietnam

The Red River Festival 2025 will be held from November 18 to 24 in Lao Cai Province. The event will feature a week of colorful cultural and tourism activities under the theme “Where the Red River Flows into Vietnam.”


Celebrating Culture and Cooperation

The festival celebrates the success of the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress (2025–2030) and welcomes the 14th National Party Congress.

It is more than a cultural gathering. The event carries political, economic, and diplomatic value, aiming to boost ties between Lao Cai, other Red River provinces, and Yunnan (China). The goal is to enhance regional cooperation and promote sustainable development along the Red River Basin.


Honoring Lao Cai’s Cultural Identity

The festival highlights Lao Cai’s strategic role in the Red River region — a land shaped by history and heritage. Through art, rituals, and exhibitions, it honors local traditions and community pride.

This event is also a great chance to showcase Lao Cai’s tourism potential. Visitors can explore ancient culture, unique crafts, and the charm of mountain life.


Key Activities and Guests

The main celebration will take place at Kim Tan Square. Around 500 guests will attend, including national leaders and international delegates from France, China, Denmark, India, Thailand, Laos, and Yunnan Province.

Festival highlights include 13 exhibition spaces presenting folk art, traditional rituals, handicrafts, and OCOP products. There will also be displays on Red River culture and the partnership between Vietnam and China.

  • “Coc Leu Ancient Market” recreation, showing old trading scenes, folk games, and daily life.

  • Vietnam–China sports exchange, including friendly football matches in Lao Cai Stadium.

  • “Red River Festival Golf Tournament 2025.”

  • International Cycling Race“One Track, Two Nations” (Honghe–Lao Cai), from November 28 to 30.

  • Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival 2025 in Van Chan Commune, themed “Tea Fragrance in the Clouds.”


Opening Ceremony

The opening night will begin at 8:00 PM on November 19 at Nam Cuong Square, Cam Duong Ward. It will feature a special art performance and 15 minutes of fireworks, broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV).
