Hue–Da Nang Heritage Train Suspended Two Days Due to Storm

Hue, Vietnam — Heritage Train Service Suspended for Safety

The “Central Heritage Connection” tourist train linking Hue and Da Nang will be suspended on October 23–24 for safety reasons. Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Fengshen is affecting Central Vietnam.

Train Service Halted for Safety

On October 22, the Vietnam Railways Corporation announced a two-day suspension of the HD1/2 and HD3/4 heritage trains.
The decision follows forecasts of intense rainfall as Storm Fengshen weakens into a tropical depression.

Passengers with tickets will receive SMS notifications. Those who choose not to travel can request a full refund within 30 days at any railway station.

Safety Along the Hai Van Pass

The route passes through the Hai Van Pass—one of Vietnam’s most scenic yet challenging railway sections.
To reduce risks, railway authorities have cut train frequency, inspected bridges and tunnels, and reinforced slopes in flood-prone areas.

Personnel are stationed at key points to monitor signals and manage disruptions. Emergency materials and equipment are ready to ensure quick service resumption once conditions improve.
Repair work is also underway to address damage from previous storms No.10 and No.11 earlier this month.

About the Hue–Da Nang Heritage Train

The Hue–Da Nang Heritage Train is part of the Central Heritage Connection launched in 2024.
It offers a scenic 100 km journey linking Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An—three of Central Vietnam’s cultural centers.

Each train includes panoramic cabins, free Wi-Fi, onboard dining, and traditional Hue music performances.
The three-hour trip crosses the Hai Van Pass, known as “The Grandest Gateway Under Heaven,” with stunning views of Lang Co Bay before reaching Da Nang’s beaches or the imperial city of Hue.

Storm Fengshen Weakens but Brings Heavy Rain

As of last night, Tropical Storm Fengshen had weakened into a tropical depression near the waters off southern Quang Tri–Quang Ngai, about 80 km from Da Nang.
Maximum winds reached 49 km/h (level 6), with gusts up to level 10, as the system moved southwest at 10–15 km/h.

The storm is expected to move inland and weaken further over Da Nang–Quang Ngai in the coming hours.
Strong winds of level 6–8 and waves up to 4 meters are forecast along the coast from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, including Con Co, Cu Lao Cham, and Ly Son islands.
