Tourists Wade Through Floodwaters to Visit Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An, Vietnam — Heavy rain has flooded parts of Hoi An Ancient Town, but tourists still come to explore the site.
Water levels in some areas reached half a meter after days of rain caused by Tropical Storm Fengshen.

Flooding in Hoi An’s Old Streets

Many streets near the river are underwater.
Shops and restaurants have closed and moved goods to higher shelves.
Despite the flooding, the town remains busy.
Visitors walk through the water to experience the charm of Hoi An’s ancient streets.

Heavy Rain Across Central Vietnam

The Vietnam Meteorological Agency reported strong rainfall from Ha Tinh to Da Nang.
From last night to this morning, many areas saw more than 80 mm of rain.
Ha Tinh recorded 149 mm, while Hue reached 108 mm.

Rain is expected to continue through Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, and Da Nang.
Some places could see up to 700 mm of rain in total.
Experts warn of flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding in low-lying areas.

Rain May Last Until Late October

Meteorologists say the heavy rain could continue until the end of October.
River levels in southern Quang Tri to Da Nang may reach alarm levels two or three.
Local residents are preparing for rising waters.
Tourists, however, continue to enjoy the rare view of Hoi An
