Long Thanh International Airport Welcomes First Commercial Flight
On December 15, 2025, Long Thanh International Airport officially received its first commercial test flight, marking a major milestone ahead of its full commercial launch. The flight was operated by Vietnam Airlines and served as the final operational evaluation before the airport—the largest in Vietnam—opens to the public.
First Commercial Flight Lands at Long Thanh Airport
The flight, numbered VN5001, was operated using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a wide-body aircraft with passenger capacity equivalent to a regular commercial flight. The aircraft departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 3:20 PM and landed at Long Thanh International Airport at 4:00 PM on the same day.
Shortly after the arrival, flight VN5002 successfully took off from Long Thanh Airport, further confirming the airport’s readiness for real-world operations.
