Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025–2026: Celebrating the Vibrant Spirit of the Mekong Delta
The Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 will take place from December 27, 2025, to January 1, 2026.
It marks a joyful celebration to welcome the New Year 2026.
The event aims to create a cultural and tourism highlight for the city. It helps build a festive atmosphere and enriches the spiritual life of local residents. The festival also promotes the unique river culture of the Mekong Delta, introducing it to visitors from across Vietnam and abroad.
Theme: “Can Tho – Colors of the River”
This year’s theme, “Can Tho – Colors of the River”, captures the essence of the city’s charm.
The Can Tho People’s Committee directs the event, while the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism works with event partners to organize it.
Main venues include Song Hau Park in Cai Khe Ward and Ninh Kieu Wharf Park in Ninh Kieu Ward.
Activities will also take place along nearby areas on the beautiful Hau River.
Opening Ceremony and River Parade
The opening ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. on December 27, 2025. The highlight will be the “Colors of the River” Parade, held both on land and on the water.
Decorated boats will sail along the Hau River, showcasing the lively river culture of the Mekong Delta. Artists will perform đờn ca tài tử — the famous Southern folk music — on these boats, creating a festive and authentic atmosphere.
This event will bring the spirit of Southern Vietnam’s waterways to life through music, color, and light.

Exciting Activities for Visitors
The festival features many activities that offer fun, creativity, and local flavor. Here are some highlights visitors can enjoy during the week-long celebration.
1. Nightly Art Performances
From December 28 to 30, 2025, art shows will take place every evening at 7:30 p.m. in Song Hau Park.
These performances highlight the music, lifestyle, and traditions of the Mekong Delta.
2. Photo Exhibition: “Life on the River – The Mekong Then and Now”
From December 27, 2025, to January 1, 2026, visitors can explore a photo exhibition at Ninh Kieu Park.
The display features stunning images of river life, comparing the past and present of the region.
3. River Decorations and Miniature Displays
Between December 20, 2025, and January 1, 2026, the riverside area will be filled with colorful decorations and artistic installations.
The space from Song Hau Park to Ninh Kieu Wharf will become a lively outdoor gallery inspired by river culture.
4. Boat and SUP Races
A sailboat race will take place on December 28 on the Hau River.
The next day, December 29, visitors can watch a SUP (stand-up paddleboard) race at Cai Khe Canal.
These events add excitement and energy to the festival while celebrating the region’s close connection to water.
